She joined an institute at Manali and worked hard, she had the support and encouragement of the members of the family and friends. She secured an ‘A’ grade and her name was included in All-India Expedition to Mount Everest. She completed three successful expeditions.
She then climbed Mount Everest on May 10, 1993. She was overwhelmed with delight as she was only 19 years old. She felt as if she had the whole world literally at her feet. She had all the most beautiful and delightful experiences which were everything even greater than the awards she received.
The hardships that came on her way
She worked hard with passion and enjoyed doing it. She was not someone who could sit idle or get lazy and never took a back seat. She was not a shirker and practiced every day for four hours with hard work and dedication.
She was daring enough to face the hardships that taught her all the lessons. During her final frontier, the economic condition of her family was much helpful. At that time even her father was bedridden and a lot of money was required for his treatment so she managed with the little money that she had. Dicky Dolma loved music and was fond of listening to old Hindi film songs. Later she lost her father and at present, she is teaching mountaineering at the Institute where she learned and serving as a coach.

From Dolma’s life we can realize that if the spirit is willing, nothing is impossible. Dolma faced problems in life right from her childhood. At the tender age of eleven, she lost her mother and brother. When she was getting ready for the final frontier, her father was bed-ridden and she needed a lot of money for his treatment. She faced emotional, financial, and physical hardships and challenges. Despite these problems, she practiced for four hours. daily in order to achieve her goal. We can say that her passion which went back to her childhood days and her grit and determination made her realize her dream.
