Good morning one and all. Respected Principal, teachers and my dear friends, it is my pleasure and privilege to stand before you today. I am honored to have this opportunity to speak to such a distinguished audience.Today on this occasion, I would like to share a few words on the significance of air pollution and its dangers.
Whenever we need a break we often say “I’ll go get some fresh air, it will cheer me”. However, as a result of the rapidly changing world, the air around us too has changed. Its freshness diminishing with each passing day. The air we breathe is filled with a variety of dangerous contaminants, including particles, gases, and poisons. There are significant negative effects on human health and the ecosystem because of air pollution.
Numerous factors, such as manufacturing, power plants, transportation, and even everyday activities like cooking and cleaning, contribute to air pollution. Numerous harmful impacts of air pollution include respiratory issues, heart conditions, and even cancer. Additionally, it leads to ozone layer loss, acid rain, and global warming.
Additionally, wildlife, agriculture, and other natural organisms are impacted by air pollution, which causes a reduction in biodiversity and lower crop yields. Air pollution is so severe in some cities that it has even resulted in health emergencies, forcing the closure of schools and the distribution of masks to the general public.
While there has been progress in reducing air pollution by governments around the world, much more needs to be done. Cooperation between individuals, corporations, and governments is crucial to solving this issue. People can help minimise air pollution by taking easy steps like using fewer cars, saving energy, and purchasing environmentally friendly items.
Governments can contribute by establishing and enforcing rules that restrict emissions from businesses and cars. Additionally, they can encourage businesses to employ renewable energy sources and cleaner technologies. Governments can also spend money on public transportation, bike lanes, and walkways for pedestrians to lessen the need for automobiles.
Lastly, corporations are crucial in the fight against air pollution. They can make investments in greener technologies, lower their emissions, and support environmentally friendly behaviours. Additionally, they can inform both their staff and consumers about the value of lowering air pollution and the actions they can take to do so.
This world is ours to live and take care of. We must remember that we share this world with many other beings too and our actions affect them as well. It is our responsibility to unite for a cause and take the actions necessary to curb air pollution and make this world safer and a better place to live.
