Narendra Damodardas Modi is the present Prime Minister of India. He is a member of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat state from 2001 – 2014 before becoming the Prime Minister.
Modi was born in a middle-class family in Vadnangar in Gujarat. His father name was Damodardas Mulchand Modi and mother Heeraben Modi. His life is an example of what one can achieve with hard work and ambition. At an early age, he left his home and visited many religious places in India. He then joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and worked hard for many years. He was given a position in BJP after working in RSS.
He became the fifth Prime Minister. He promoted the idea of Digital India and ‘Swatchh Bharat’ (clean India). He also ordered for ‘Demonetization’ to clear corruption and black money in the country. In this, the old currency notes were discarded and new notes were brought. He also promoted women’s education and control female child infanticide. He started a campaign “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.”
Narendra Modi contacts the citizens directly. He started the very popular programme “Mann ki Baat” and talked with people through radio. He also began ‘Make in India’ campaign to attract foreign investors so that India became a manufacturing hub of the world.
